My first visit to Old Warden,.. but certainly not my last.
That's it now Ed. You'll be an Old Warden Addict like me. Oh well, got to go cold turkey now until the season starts there again next May .
Lovely set of shots there mate.
Here's a selection of mine. The theme for the season finale show was 'racing' with a great selection of vintage racing cars & the usual unique line-up of amazing aircraft including some very nice rare visitors. Where else will you see a Hurricane, Mew Gull, a Taylor Titch & a Spartan Executive racing together or a tribute race to the Mac Robertson Air Race featuring the aircraft types that took part including the original winner, the DH Comet??
Colonel George Hardy, the surviving Tuskegee Airman was also at the show, re-united with his P51 'Tall In The Saddle' now of course flown & owned by Peter Teichman & Michael potaloo..sorry..Portillo was also around filming for his next train series......Interesting as to what the link between his train programme & Shuttleworth may be!!
Thanks to CDP for the company & here's some of my pics -
I was gutted (as many others where) but not surprised to find out earlier in the year that the CAA had forced the cancellation of Sywell's great bi annual charity airshow. The closest we got to an airshow here this year was the annual Piston & Props event. Certainly not a full blown airshow & the bias is on the Automobile side of things but there was still some very nice flying acts & visitors.
I'm a bit late posting these up as the event happened three weekends ago & I've only just got round to sorting through them -
It was very nice too see this Fairchild Argos at the event. Not a regular sight at airshows.
..& there was a nice mini gathering of Chipmunks at Sywell the weekend before Pistons & Props for Chippie Fest -
One final photo below from me for my 2016 airshow season. The cockpit covers go back on until next year -
