Great news from OW Steve. I hoped these things would settle down.

Nice one Al.

It's strange seeing a modern jet fighter at Flying Legends. The usual rule is vintage pistons & props only & that's only the second time ever that a modern jet has appeared there in the events entire history. Both times have been the USAF'S Heritage Flight, mixing WW2 American fighter types with their modern counterparts.

As usual I time my UK trips badly and miss things like Flying Legends, but I was at Duxford the week after and caught Towing Legends :silly:

I prefer it when there are no people around. The arrivals evening at Biggin Hill was always worthwhile and sometimes the enterprising burger vans would be open. The smell of fried onions is hypnotic..... must have a burger, must have a burger..........

Previous visits to Duxford on non-show days have often been rewarding although mainly due to visiting aircraft and flybys. The best was a trio of mustangs that came in fast and low over the runway then peeled off to separate for landing. A single Red Arrow Hawk was another, no idea what happened to his mates but we assumed it was either a delivery or a flight test.

Here's the first of two sets from Farnborough last weekend -

...Kicking off with a bit of an Airbus showcase.

As airliner displays go, they don't come much more impressive than the A380.The angles of bank it performes are amazing & it looks like it's about to drop out of the sky when showing it's slow speed handling. If only it would appear at other shows as well.

The A400 is pretty much aerobatic as well -

It's a real shame that the Reds are no longer allowed to perform a full display at Farnborough, at least we got this nice formation with another A400. An RAF example this time -

Part two coming up.....
