I do not 'think' that the spar requires replacement yet,but not 100% sure,there were rumours that there might still be some of the Shack spar material left...but that would be a very very expensive job...if JJ has enough 'Hours' left on the spar for a few years flying then they might just make do with that.
wasnt there some talk of remaking the dambusters film last year?
if so it would be a lot easier with two lancs than just the one, if the makers of the film stumped up the cash to return it to the air in return for use during filming?

This delay could actually work to the benefit of the Dambusters remake.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy has brought about some radical improvements in CGI technology. Hopefully the effects that they had to create optically in the early 1950s, such as the Flak, aircraft crashes and gushing water of the dam breach will be far more convincing now.
If it moves, shout at it....if it doesn't, paint it !

The gushing water of the dams was poor in the original, but given the CGI used to make the Jurassic Park films all those years ago has had years of development such that you can make anything believable. Peter Jackson is a stickler for realism, hence the full size models for the ground shots. I doubt the BBMF Lanc could be used for much as it doesn't have the right mods to carry an Upkeep.
This was posted on key...I suppose it does not necessarily mean she will fly this year but an indication of the expected time scale for prepping for flight...but of course anything to with aircraft servicing does tend to 'move to the right' (take longer than planned)...
I would think that estimate is wildy over priced, look how much money it took to get the vulcan flying and that is a far more complex aircraft, from what I can see there wont be a lot that will have to be done to the aircraft, the only thing that may push the price way up is if something major like the wing spar needs replacing, the engines and the flight controls on the aircraft already are in working order.
I was once in conversation with Mark hannah at duxford over the restoration of a spifire, this thing was a wreck, it needed just about all the body panels replaced, the engine rebiult ect, they were basically having to rebiuld the whole aircraft from scratch, he said that restoration would cost around 1 million to put it back in the air, yes the lanc is a bigger aircraft but no more complex and in far better condition.
