Welcome Xan-Asmodi. If you are the kind of UrbExer you claim to be, you're the kind of person I like.

I'd like to point out (to anyone and all) that any true UrbExer leaves nothing but footprints and takes nothing but pictures. While I fully realise (as do many UrbExers) that this hobby involves trespassing, it is not the true UrbExer that causes trouble. In fact: most owners hardly ever know anyone was on their property. The trouble (causing damage) usually begins when the masses begin to invade properties. Some will go too far in doing that, not just by trespassing, but actively forcing themselves in. Whilst calling themselves UrbExers, they are in fact not.

AiX rightly wishes not to be associated with those people and I understand that it does not want to give anyone any ideas about possible urbex sites. But if you do not want to offer any information, AiX should probably close down. An Urban Explorer will look for ANY information he might consider useful. At some point that will include some information from AiX. You cannot prevent that in any possible way.

Dennis, my local Airfield was R.A.F Wombleton, North Yorks. I still count it as my local as I didn't move too far away and my mum still lives nearby, which is handy for visits. However, there was some confusion the last time I wanted to go for a walk round the aerodrome as there was a sign near the gate. I'm sure it said it was private property, but didn't make clear whether you could still walk round, even though underneath another sign stated that dogs must be kept on the lead! Anyone know if you can walk round?

We had no problems walking around when we visited in May this year, they guys down at the airstrip were nice too. There were a couple of dog walkers so I don't think its a huge problem.

I have stumbled onto this forum in the course of some research I am doing on some WW2 sites in my village. My main interest is the RAF Y stations. I am a male to female transsexual and do living history as a gambler in the Old West (based on Big Nose Kate Elder) and starting in WW2 Living History as a WAAF officer.

No problems walking around the main airfield site at Wombleton. It's used by quite a few dog walkers as well as people flying model aircraft. Part of the southern peritrack is used for light aircraft.

Brands started in 1926 as a grasstrack. As far as my Old West activities are concerned my main focus is on Tombstone, Arizona Territory and the so called Gunfight at OK Corral which didn't even take place in the OK Corral
