Hi PNK,
Thanks for your reply, Second life is a 3D internet simulation so my buildings are 3D, you can walk around them and open doors and walk in etc.
I will try and get a few photos and present them to give people an idea of what i'm trying to achieve.

Do you have the history of this Jeep?

Hello from Sudbury in Suffolk

Thought I would introduce myself after lurking for a while, I'm Paul and I live in a small village between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds, situated on the Eastern Command Line (west) and surrounded by WW2 Airfields

I have had a lifetime interest in Military History but primarily in WW2 era, Aircraft were my first love (I blame Airfix for this) but have become strangely interested in old airfield structures, defence sites and pillboxes.

I used to be a telecoms engineer so I was lucky enough to visit lots of live military and goverment sites in East Anglia and Wilts/Glos as well as the older ones.

I am a member of another site but mainly for the excellent photography of some of the posts (and all the pillboxes:-D)

all the best

Paul

The 3D simulation is just what you need in museums. The "hi tech" displays currently used are not inspiring but to see some genuine artefacts/buildings and the to wander around them in "context" would be great. Sorry just thinking aloud :)

Do you have the history of this Jeep?

Sadly, no. It's a Ford G.P.W. built May-June 1942.
when I got it from a shed in Dorset it was in a bit of a state! in fact most of it bar chassis and body parts had to be replaced. There were no markings on it at all except for some stars and Royal Artillary and Royal Signals markings on the windscreen. A plate on the dash panel states it was rebuilt by Royal Artillary workshops, Bremen, 1948.

Welcome to AiX. I live in Suffolk too and spend most of my spare time walking old airfields! I look forward to seeing some of your posts, maybe bump into you one day too!

Cheers

Welcome to the forum Jeff. Great job on the jeep. :D

Thanks mate, it is nice when people comment positively on something that you've put an awful lot of time (and money) into.

Sorry to moderators about being off topic. No more on jeeps from me!

Jeff
