Thanks for the warm welcome guys!!

Particular interests?? Well I have this passion for the past to start with, especially airfields, can't put my finger on it, but I get an enormous sense of "feeling" when around them. Attlebridge fascinates me because of the remians that are there today,

Probably think I'm a crank now, but I feel unless these places are logged and recorded, they will one day be lost forever, all the memories wiped, almost like another piece of our disposable lifestyle that seems to be etched into us....if that makes sense.

A Crank !! Well don't worry you're among friends. The above is exactly what I feel and think, and it makes good sence. As far back as I can remember I've had an interest in the second world war, especially the RAF contribution. Then in 1983 I suddenly acquired an interest in the USAAF especially the 8th Air Force. Been to every former airfield throughout East Anglia countless times, first visit to Attlebridge was April 1986, full of poultry huts...also the Control Tower.

Welcome Danelectro. I should have called my self 'Fender'.

Dave - what is that 12-string Telecaster, and what is the second one entitled Ekoflora?

(I'm a genuine vintage Strat man - just wish I could remember how to play it.)

Graham

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

The top one is a Hohner 12 string XIIPro- sounds much like a Rickenbacker360/12(think of Byrds/Tambourine Man)...but about half the price.

The other is an EKO Florentine from 1963/64.Mine is in a more standard mahogany sunburst colour finish and has a see-thru scratch plate....found in the back of a local guitar shop that was closing down - had a damaged neck - got it for £70 and repaired it - had it refretted etc- nice guitar to play.

Apologies to non guitar aficionados.

No apologies needed ! I love the guitar. My mate played Bass in a local band for a while, now plays Lead, and is VERY GOOD !! Using his guitar [Electric] I done a very good rendition of Smoke on The Water...sadly to no audience. Written various lyrics over the years, Berlin Wall, never got any further than a Demo-Tape.

Hiya and welcome,

If you have a look at my facebook page you will see my Gibson Les Paul 1993, Yamaha MSG DeLuxe 1988, and a 2002 Tokai SG75. Got a few studio tapes from the late 70's - 80's and was still gigging regularly up until about 9 years ago. Who knows when it's christmas I might put a link to them..... You have been warned!

The guitar I did most of my recording with however was not one of these. (sorry going to get guitar geeky here). It was an old CMI SG copy which I burned all the lovely cherry red paint off, re varnished and put a p90 and a humbucker into, and built a pre amp ,a tube screamer into it and some extra pickup switches.

It's now totally unplayable and sits in my under stairs cupboard, it's frets completely worn out. I've never had a better guitar than this since, even though I've had about 30 over the years.

........"Watch out for that ditch mick"...........OOps:)

I felt like crying the other day. I managed to find a copy of a book of photos of Hursley which included a detail of an aerial photograph of Hursley dated 1918. Why did I want to cry? Because the detail shows the village beautifully but not the Park where the Army Camp was etc. I suspect the full photograph shows it (although it may not) but it wasn't relevant to his book.

So now I need to find the owner of the photograph ... if it still exists ... as it could answer a lot if it really is 1918 as it may well be an Observer's training aerial reconnaissance photo! It was taken at 4,000 ft, does that sound plausible for that sort of photo?

I've also got a few extra snippets on Worthy Down in the process of this, so hopefully I'll be able to pass those on too.

Cheers
Dave

Wow, there seems to be quite a few guitar nuts here!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1990 Gibson Les Paul, it's left handed, and at the time I had to have it imported because there seemed to be none in this country!!! It's lovely, and I wouldn't get rid of it, I just need to spend some time some day to practice more!!!!!!!!

cheers for now!

Danno!!
