I'm a former RAF pilot and flying instructor who has been an aviation journalist for the last 30 years (Flight International and Flightglobal).

My grandfather was a pilot in the RFC, ending up commanding 22 Squadron in NE France and Flanders during WW1.

Before joining the RAF I earned my PPL at the Airways Flying Club, Booker (Wycombe Air Park) while working as cabin crew for BEA.

love tangible aviation history - aerodromes, aeroplanes, aviation artefacts, civil or military.

Welcome David. What did you fly?

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

Welcome David, it's nice to have a respected aviation journalist on hand, personal experience can help answer many of the question that we raise on AiX.
