I have spent 28 years living in a village on the River Blackwater. I'd be extremely interested to hear more about this.

Thanks for your help chaps. Now that I look at them there is a lip running along the top of each which means the item would slide along a rail and the knurled pin (on the left end of the alloy one) is spring loaded, you can pull it down and release (spring still perfect after 40 years in the ground!) so it would engage with a hole as a stop.

I found 2 of each item on the airfield within a few feet of each other. Thanks for shedding some light on their purpose. I'll sort out some more bits soon.

Jerry, can you check whether the left-hand end of the lump (as seen in the photo) is flat, open or had another section coming out please?

That will identify it as a fwd or aft lower connector.

PB, it's open mate.

Open-ended makes it one of the aft lower wing connectors, part 66-5530 for the left wing, 66-5530-1 for the right.
