And the producers of the film Zulu admitted a few years ago that they got the characters of Hitch and Hook completely wrong!

Hitch was shall we say a bit of a rogue in the army and Hook was a model soldier, he was in fact a teetotaller. In fact one of Hooks daughters was present at the premiere of Zulu in Cardiff and she stormed out at the end because of the portrayal of her father.

the original memorial in Zeebrugge had this wording, I think the Germans blew it up in the second war although it has been reassembled since

IN COMMEMORATION OF ST GEORGE'S DAY 23RD APRIL 1918
THEN HAD EVERY MOMENT ITS DEED
AND EVERY DEED ITS HERO"

Able Seaman Albert Edward McKenzie, O.N. J31736 (Ch.). For most conspicuous gallantry. This rating belonged to B Company of seaman storming party. On the night of the operation he landed on the mole with his machine-gun in the face of great difficulties and did very good work, using his gun to the utmost advantage. He advanced down the mole with Lieutenant-Commander Harrison, who with most of his party was killed, and accounted for several of the enemy running from a shelter to a destroyer alongside the mole. This very gallant seaman was severely wounded whilst working his gun in an exposed position. Able Seaman McKenzie was selected by the men of the "Vindictive," "Iris II," and "Daffodil'" and of the naval assaulting force to receive the Victoria Cross under Rule 13 of the Royal Warrant dated the 29th January 1856.

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

Thanks Carnaby, I did try finding some kind of genuine link, but could only find the same as your first one. It's a mockery !! Your second link is very interesting... wonder why I couldn't find that as well. I took these hurried photographs on the way back to my truck after photographing the two blue plaques to Jimi Hendrix and Handel. Also the Bee Gee's...

I notice that theyve been very clever not to use an actual VC as the logo.

On the subject of VC memorials. The VC10s in RAF service carried the name of an RAF VC winner on the side of the aircraft, has that tradition been carried on with the Voyager? And if it hasnt, then it should be!
