hello there to all fellow airfiled infomation gurus. i work on raf linton on ouse for my job and visit many other raf bases in the surrounding areas for part of my jobs

far as i know linton will be staying open for the for see able future as there shutting many other bases ie kirton lindsay scampton and cottesmore. the goverment have invested to much money in linton ie new control tower, completely refurbished a hanger

Sorry for the late reply. The Cornwall at War Museum at Davidstow [next to Dairycrest] has a display on Treligga in its RNAS building.They run a slide show of wartime pictures of personnel, aircraft etc at Treligga during WW2 and have maps of the firing ranges.
If you visit on Thursday or Saturday ask for me and I'll show you around.

Susan: Perhaps you already been to Grafton with the US couple..... this Yank went there a few years ago and besides the fine memorial.... the man in the post office allowed me to take a tour of the church and its beautiful memorial................. very moving. Great folks in the village talked to me about my countrymen who had come before me.a strong emotional bond still exist to this day ! Hope you visit wen well............ some of the vets here called it Grafton Under Mud when they first arrived.... mud from rain everywhere!

Greetings from TCUNC76 over across the big pond in The Colonies. Found this website off a search on information on Amiens Prison and the RAF Mosquito Raid there in 1944. Great information here.... long time interest in The Mighty Eighth Air Force & have spent some great days running around the UK doing WW II stuff. Duxford of course .... US Army veteran myself...grew up in a military family. My late father fought in the South Pacific with the 4th Marine Division......later served and retired form the US Air Force. Saw my all time favorite film " 12 ' O' Clock High" hooked forever on US-UK relations ..... RAF in WWII..... etc. Big FlyPast & After The Battle reader............ like many here have many aviation books..Roger Freeman etc.... Its an addiction ..but a darn good one. Have such respect for your country and its long history. Been around the British military ...great lads...first class. My number one group in the Eighth was The 352nd Fighter Group that flew from Bodney......... saw the post here on Bodney with all its Then & Now pictures. Maj George E Preddy Jr the pilots career & life I read about the most. Have looked around the site for several hours..............great job. Looking forward to my return to the UK and returning to the home of The BlueNosers! Great to be here. One question for the sites administrators...can one change his handle..... I wanted to use BlueNoser352.......but happy I found this great site !

Like you, I have an avid interest in the Amiens raid, but especially the airfield it was flown from.

Thanks and its a great site full of wonderful WW II stuff.. I do post some on FlyPast over the years...actually hoping to be in Amiens this week. I have been going to Normandy for years and my main interest is US & British Airborne operations on D -Day............so Normandy is holy ground for me. Back in the early 90's I saw this nice similator in the bottom of The Imperial War Museum in London....took a ride..saw the great footage of the raid and was hooked on this operation. Yes that was a most informative session on the FlyPast Historical forum. I am hoping someone will have a copy of that 2005 Amiens Raid film I talked about from a story I found & posted in The Northern Echo . Looking forward to the new book coming out on the raid. Thanks for the welcome. If you run across a fellow aviation buff in the UK that jhas this film on dvd..I will be more than happy to pay for it & postage ! Have a good weekend !
