I recently came across this photograph,I was doubting my memory,,,I do not think this was taken at Baginton but I believe the time frame was 1962/3...When air displays were worth visiting,I have not been to any displays for many years,they are so boring with the display taking place seemingly in the next county!

That exact same formation happened at Bruntingthorpe's Open House (below) on 28th May 1960 & I think it also overflew Celveston & Alconbury also on the same day for their Open Houses

Many thanks, Steve for these superb copies, they are excellent !! Don't want to appear morbid, but, apart maybe, from the young kids seen in the last photograph, most of the others shown are quite possibly no-longer here.

sadly most of the aircraft are probably no longer here either

Talking of 'The Hall', as we do, how many remember listening to the manic commentator for the Turkish Stars? Captain?

His comment in stuttered English about "don't forget to tell all your friends and neighbours and boys and girls and cats and dogs about ...very brave Turkish Star pilots.

Other comments we recall were something like....Pilot number 3 is...very handsome pilot...number 5 pilot is very handsome pilot too. He delivered his commentary with the velocity of a Gatling gun and the enthusiasm of a foreign football commentator. Don't think we ever heard so much laughter from the flight line.

He made an appearance in the Hanger later, autographing photographs of the Stars and photographs of himself.

They don't make them like that any more.
