I must admit I'm a bit with Canberra on this in that I don't think it was a waste of money as such, just bad timing with planning and construction times coinciding with the rundown of the Cold-was, many other projects met a similar fate.

There were projects, particularly some that were NATO requirements and had NATO-funding, that were cheaper to complete rather than pay cancellation fees from national funds. Don't know if Uniter came under this.

Update to the list:
Coningsby also has 4 Hard NUBS, one by each Squadron Ops and two by the hangars.
Ditto for Lossie.
Found a third at Leeming. Correction, 4 at Leeming.

What about the Bampton Castle structure Paul? We have it listed as a HUB but according to the above from rotciv1 it is a soft NUB clad in brick.

Yes, I'm back(ish).

I wonder if Dunkeswell was an ideal site for a switching centre and that's why its located there? Much the same could be said about Cranwell I suppose.

Bentley Priory HUB (2) hard within the same underground building

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!
