Cementation is / was a Bentley / Doncaster company that originally specialised in sinking mineshafts, and especially in the technique of freezing the ground around wet patches to allow the sinking to continue unabated. We bought our first house off them in 1977 as "Northern Ideal Homes" and had to pick our keys up from Bentley.

Funnily enough much the same thought popped into my mind this morning. From photos I seem to recall you are absolutely correct - so it's possible that this was the England/South control bunker with living facilities.
As it's still active or on an active base it might be tricky to find out!

Sealand is a much larger than usual Uniter Bunker, and still looks to be active. I'll have a look later.

A question, can anyone explain what a UNITER is without getting to technical . As I haven`t a Scooby doo !!!! I know there are plenty around the country but what was there function . And what period do they belong ie Cold War . :confused:

That was the plan.

I must admit it would be great to see a bolied down and simplified description of the system in general, as that thread confuses the hell out of me!

I think it does most of us!
If there is such a thing then it's quite possibly still classified...

We did find one half of a manual for the NUB buildings but it's not in our possession.
