Some photos of the Shackleton tucked away in the Ysterplaat Airbase museum storage hanger, Cape Town. Sadly I was a month too late to see the gate guardian one which I gather succumbed to structural corrosion I've put links to the remainder of the stored aircraft and the museum under the 'Museum' section

They seemed to be making steady progress with WR963's restoration to flight but this tweet posted last night doesn't look at all promising -
Avro Shackleton @WR963
It is with deepest regret that all runs/events have been cancelled until further notice. As soon as I find out more I'll let you all know
Things seemed to be falling apart all round on the aircraft restoration front at Coventry these days. I really hope this (whatever it is) is just a temporary set back & the restoration can carry on ASAP -

An update - www.avroshackleton.co.uk/news
Due to unforeseen administrative circumstances, the Shackleton Preservation Trust has been forced to cancel the programmed public engine run on Bank Holiday Monday, and the Wheels event on the 10th of September. Unfortunately, we are also unable to allow public access to the aircraft at this time. We ask for your patience while we work through this situation, and we will update you all as soon as we possibly can. As I have said above, it is an administrative situation, and is not due to any form of incident.I appreciate many of you will have made plans to attend either or both of these events, and on behalf of the Shackleton Preservation Trust, I hope you will accept our apologies to you all for this very short notice.
