I popped up to Brunty this morning to meet up with fellow AiXer burleysway & also to get a few shots of WR974 during her rebuild. She certainly isn't looking her best at the moment as should be expected but the team are making good progress -
Apparently the future plan for Shackleton WR974 at Brunty is to eventually move her to Woodford & display her alongside Vulcan XM603 at the AVRO Heritage Museum.
plus.. Shackleton WR963'S future is safe despite the really sad recent closure of Classic Air Force at Coventry. Hopefully the restoration will continue to go from strength to strength in 2016.
If they move a Shack from Brunty to Woodford then why not move the Shack thats in the Manchester museum (owned by the RAF museum dont forget!) to either Cosford or Hendon?????
Has anyone else noticed that the Airfix box art for their new kit of the Shackleton shows in the background present day Gibraltar rather than as it was when the aircraft was based there?
