At least I can now say I've seen them both in flight as they flew past my house today. Sadly modern digital cameras seem to want to focus on anything but what you want and our washing line is perfectly sharp with two fuzzy Lancaster shapes behind! Must get batteries for my old Pentax ME Super! I assume they flew from Biggin Hill this morning so hopefully they will come back.

FYI - My wife just told me that someone has posted on Facebook that both Lancasters landed at Southend Airport about an hour ago. According to the BBMF schedule, they're currently appearing at the 'Airbourne' International Air Show at Eastbourne ( www.visiteastbourne.com/airbourne/ ) as well as other venues in the South East.

The 2 Lancasters flew right over my house this afternoon escorted by 2 Spitfires, Ten Rolls Royce engines in close harmony, it doesn't get better than that.

Due to the high winds the Lancs re-routed back to Connigsby earlier than planned today to avoid being stuck on the ground at either Biggin or Southend. Tomorrows displays are cancelled with the exception of possibly Sywell (from the BBMF facebook) -

"An update for you,all of the events tomorrow are cancelled except Sywell which may or may not happen. Sorry I can not give you any more info than this at this time. Paul B"

I suspect the coastal ones were the issue as there was only a stiff breeze inland.

Apparently a 35 knot 'breeze' at Coningsby, too dangerous to even open the hangar doors is what the expectant crowd were told at Sywell. I'm now looking to see what other event I can get to to see them.

Little Gransden next Sunday mate. If you liked Sywell you'll LOVE Gransden. Very similar atmosphere & the aircraft come really close to the crowd due to the small airfield. I've never seen the Vulcan fly so close & low!! Both Lancs, Vulcan (several flypasses) & really nice mix of other acts, some really unique all booked. It's close to selling out though. Online tickets already gone but tickets are available from various shops listed on the website if your quick. No on the gate tickets now though either. More info here -

Is anyone aware of any documentaries that may come out of this tour? Since I swapped my usual September trip back home to June, I am missing all the fun!
