We might get lucky in 5 years time or so. There is an Aussie built TMk 43, NZ2308, in New Zealand, that may be purchased by a UK based organisation called the Flying Mosquito Trust. Given the funds, it could be restored by the team responsible for KA114. Four year project to get to flying status and a year later over to the UK. Fingers definitely crossed on this one.

It would be great to see a mozzie flying back in the UK there quite a few CAA related issues that could well scupper this especially the plans of the fore mentioned Flying Mosquito Trust (under the directorship of Ivor Sellers Kirkman) project... even if these are over come there is a massive estimated £7M cost and a questionable life expectancy past the initial 2 year set up.

Both my grandfather and my uncle were carpenters at Percival Aircraft in Luton, and I'm told they worked on the Mosquito lines so I for one would dearly like to see one back in the UK skies!

Interesting utube video from 31 years ago ~ does any one know what the guy adjusting the engine half way through the video is actually doing ?



Apparently there is also a charity called ' The Peoples Mosquito Ltd ' that has the remains of RL249 from its crash at Coltisall during February 1949 while serving with No 23 Sqn RAF.
