Oopps!! Not my opinion, just passing on the info regarding the location of the Spitfire, i dont personally know the Panton brothers but having visited a few times can say it is a very nice museum.
Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section. I bought this photo last week of a crashed C-47. Unfortunately there's no details to go with it so it's a bit of a mystery.
This afternoon I think we saw a DC-2 fly over our house. It was silver and had the Swissair tail markings. It also looked like an undernourished DC-3. Google tells me there is indeed a Swiss DC-2 that is flyable so I suspect it must have been that one.
Apart from the slightly pointed nosed, the engines sounded different to the DC-3 and oddly it had its undercarriage down. I assume it was landing at London City Airport as we get dozens of aircraft for their every day.
I did take a photo but it had trundled past so when I download it it may not be any good. I'll add it to this post if it is.
No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot (probably not Mark Twain)
I now think it was a DC-3 although it looks to too slim to me. The photo below is an enlargement of the dot in the middle of the full photo so apologies for the quality.
