Sorry! But I think it looks ridiculous with those sharks teeth and eyeballs. If they are intended to make it look agressive it's a failure. As a comic cartoon it scores 3/10.

Totally agree there ! Plus I think it's a hoax, look at the starboard inner art-work, it extends onto the fuselage.

I seem to recall there's a picture of it in 'Lancaster at War', with the shark's teeth. I too think it looks daft, but I reckon it's period correct.

Yes the colour scheme is correct and was applied to Ropey , VR-R , KB772 of 419 Squadron which completed 65 Ops . A photograph of her appears in Lancaster At War , Ian Allan 1971 , 1971 !! , and has appeared in other books as well as Aeroplane Monthly and Flypast .

The photograph is often credited as being at MStG but was in fact taken at Nova Scotia airfield in Canada in June 1945 .

Have a look at this link for some fantastic photographs and information on what happened to the Lancs on their return to Canada . Warning , it may bring a tear to your eyes ! ; www.vintagewings.ca/VintageNews/Stories/...-for-Lancasters.aspx

I don't dispute the authenticity of the colur scheme I just don't like it.

Fortunately, the link to the historical Lanc site has restored my faith!

Thanks Richard .

Post#184 is of Ropey at Nova Scotia airfield in 1945 . I'm hoping this and the air to air shot might persuade PETERTHEEATER to change his opinion of Ropey's sharksteeth !

No, sorry. I have never been a fan of sharks teeth decos on military aircraft especially jet fighters. More often than not it looks comical and amateurish; the Lightning for example.
