ID Location

Hi

My Uncle found this photo in one of his old family albums but doesnt recall where he got it from or where the picture was taken, can anyone identify the location?

The vehicle on the right looks American. I dont recognise the control tower as a UK type but I feel I've seen it before but I can't think where. Only thing it says on the back of the photo is 'Buccaneer'

I've smudged the pilots face and I'm not sure if it would be under crown copyright?

Looks like a Chevy or GMC pickup truck at left. All I got...

Might be Honington, certainly looks like a uk airfield though.

Mildenhall perhaps.

It's not Honington. Doesn't look like an RAF station. Could it be somewhere like Goose Bay?

Looks like an overseas tower to me, no idea where though.

The chevron on the nose looks like a 208 Sqn machine. They flew the Bucc between '74 and '94 at the already mentioned Honington. Here's a shot of Honington's post-war tower, taken from the excellent controltowers.co.uk - controltowers.co.uk/H-K/images/Honington_03.jpg . It bares a good resembleance, and there's a better shot on AIX here - i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss332/jbmack2/HONINGTONOLDTWR.jpg which shows a few differences, so I don't think it's Honington.

Ah, just noticed they moved to Lossiemouth in '83. Can't find any decent shots of the Lossie tower from then, anyone got one to compare?

Not Lossies tower, worked there 86-88. Could be Goose as Delboy suggests, the inboard extra fuel tanks fitted make me think it's on a 'Red Flag' deployment.
