I know! thats the top of the Pundit light! the tower is left of that in the image!
Hi Denis, I agree with most of what you're saying here, but for Pundit Light, shouldn't it read Floodlight?
It looks more like the tall cylindrical Floodlight that was used near the runway and kept in the Floodlight and Trailer Shed, where as the Pundit light flashed the airfield code and would be away from the flying areas, also shaped differently.
It looks like the cylindrical lamp tower of a floodlight trailer, of similar type to this (post #4 on)

You also say yourself in the very same thread as you've linked to that Pundit Light trailers were parked remotely, usually off airfield, so surely it wouldn't appear in this approach shot, in the same place that you would normally expect to see the FloodLight trailer?

Until 1944, then: All Landmark Beacons in this list of Parent Stations will flash their Peacetime Characteristic every night from dusk to dawn and will be sited on the airfield.
(AIR10/4169 Aerial lighthouse and landmark beacon key: memorandum for all R.A.F. theatres of operation SD 525 [1944])
Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite
Surely it still wouldn't be sited in the undershoot or near the threshold, more likely a wide open grass are on the airfield?
To my eyes the shape is wrong for Pundit, it looks cylindrical.
