Mystery object in village churchyard

Hello,can anyone identify this object ?I thought it may be a Bren AA mount but these are normally a tripod,I found a picture online of a BLACKER BOMBARD mount but the mounting metal boss is different...Adjacent to WW2 pillbox,many thanks................

Unfortunately, your image does not give the viewer an impression of scale or orientation. I assume that we're looking down on the object that appears to be a metal socket (tube) embedded in a concrete slab. Is the socket about 80 mm in diameter?

Given its position adjacent to a pillbox it could be a mounting for a light anti-aircraft weapon such as a Lewis or BREN Gun, possibly a Motley Mount type

Use the forum Search function and type in 'Gun Post' and hit Search. This will give you at least two topics in which LAA mounts have been discussed including the Motley Stalk type.

Of course, a block of concrete with a metal socket embedded could have been provided for other purposes such a a camouflage support, rolled wire etc.

It would be useful if you would identify the location of the pillbox since they were, usually, part of a defensive chain.

This somewhat muddy image shows a BREN gun on a single tubular mount for AA use.

Many thanks Peter,it is indeed looking down on the object,I will try to scale the object later today..it is in Halton Holegate church yard ,the Pill box being to the right of the track to the church in someones garden,looking towards the church.I have found a photo. of a model of a Lewis A/A mount ,what do you think ?
Halton Holegate was taken over by the army in the war,the Pillbox covers the 'Hollowgate' and any move from the coast westwards would have met some resistance from this po]sition.

Your image shows twin Lewis guns on a Motley Stalk mount. The base socket with reinforcing webs is typical of the MS mount and might be hidden in the soil on your subject, although I doubt it.

Where in the garden opposite is the pillbox?

The Halton Pillbox is in the corner of the field shown in the corner(not quite in the picture) taken from church tower looking Noth ish.At 53 09 53.56 N, 0 07 08.61 E.

There was a Pillbox in Spilsby at, 53 10 23.67 N, 0 05 38.78 E.I think it was taken to East Kirkby Museum...

Another was in Spilsby at approx ,53 10 25.67 N, 0 .05 32.48 E,not sure its still extant.

Thanks, that pillbox was covering the road approach from the east.

The two Spilsby PBs are listed on the ADB database.

The other Spilsby pillbox is still there,just to the right of the R/C church.

Yes,on south side of of church road, to the right of Roman Catholic church,in shrubbery, behind fence.Visited Halton today,more pics to follow plus approx.dimensions...
