The runways were 5,421 and 4,305 yards in length. Extensibility was almost impossible due to a large number of factors, so it's unlikely a third runway was ever planned. It never had any form of permanent electric runway lighting.
Did you mean 5421 and 4305 feet long ie 1807 yds and 1435 yds or in todays money 1701m and 1335m?
The non standard 1807 yards instead of 2,000 for the longest runway would indicate there were terrain problems one of which is a river running close to the NW end. South east there appears to be a church with a spire close to final approach and rising ground beyond that.

The two runways are flanked on either side by low hills. Not extensible to the NE or SE because of high ground and not extensible to the N owing to the 40-ft-wide river which crosses at the end of the runway, and not extensible to the SW because or Trory Bay. The 04/22 runway runs alongside a large ditch, some of which has been piped to allow taxiways and the 14/32 runway to be built across it - the remainder however still runs along the northern edge betwen the taxiway and runway. Altogether a poor airfield....
I note it is the shorter runway which is now the (only) main runway.
Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite
