If I recall a couple of Reginald D Hunter's tours included the 'N' word so I don't really know where we stand on it's usage these days. If I wanted to insult someone I now use two 'P' words, Pope (a title which hosted many more crimes over the centuries - surely a prime candidate for the cancel culture) or Putin (usually a mispronounced version of the French expletive, but a person not to be trusted).
The only other word I know of that was 'cancelled' widely was the 'C' word where it was once in common usage in place or street names. No idea when it started to be considered too vulgar to keep.
No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot (probably not Mark Twain)
I see no problem; I've used 'Nigger' (upper case 'N') for over 70 years when talking of dogs, cats and horses so why change?
If someone wishes to use the word as a derogatory term in lower case, it's up to them; don't drag me into it.
Now where did I leave that jar of Robertsons jam?
