I seem to remember that the Edit facility disappeared after an upgrade/reboot/whatever and was restored at another opportunity so I am typing in this test reply in the hope of being able to edit it or does the edit only apply to the initial thread post ? We shall see !
Yes the Edit button did appear and highlighted too . One to remember but would be useful without the need to go to a Moderator .

David, As mentioned before, Users can only edit their posts for a limited time period once they have originally posted that post. If you require a older post to be edited you will need to contact a Moderator with the reasons for the edit and they will edit the post for you once they have reviewed the post. This is to maintain the integrity of the threads.

The Edit button on posts is now only available to Users for a short time after the user first makes that post
This is by design and not a side effect of an forum software upgrade
It has been implemented because we have had cases where a user has decided to edit his posts so as to remove his text and images,
This is a regrettable but necessary step to maintain the integrity of the threads and discussions
If you find posts of your own or others that need editing or correcting please get in touch either directly or using the Report to moderator link bottom right of each post and fill in the form
I have already fixed a couple of Terry's
.

A Tip for all of you, if you use Quote rather than Reply when answering a post, the post you are replying to becomes part of your post so the context of you reply can be clear. You can edit the quote to remove the bits not relevant to your reply
Following on from Kevin's post, when editing a QUOTE reply make sure the quoted bit retains the square brackets around the quote code as it is easy to accidentally edit them out, especially the closing code which should be [/quote].
If the quote also contains a quote you may want to edit out one of the quotes so make sure you remove the correct name in the opening quote code and its corresponding closing quote code.
