Re American aircraft at UK air shows discussion, I thoughthat it had been publicly anounced a while back that there would be no USAAF/USN participation at any UK or foreign shows.
Unfortunate news for any future ideas of Mildenhall shows and RIAT Fairford participation.
I haven't kept up with who did or did not come this year, but someone has. I found this link to a forum where "Andy" has been posting some amazing photgraphs. It is worth starting at the beginning of the thread and working through. Some stunning photographs here!! A Really big thank you to Andy for this!!
Im surprised that the ANG haven't been doing some static displays, after all they are part funded by their home state.
The trick is in the funding split....about 90-10 as I recall. The state pays to provide the land for basing and some personnel costs. The biggest portion of operational cost is borne by the federal gov't and that's where the budget crisis is.
Not been on the forum for ages and this is something of an out of date subject but here are some pictures from this year's Charity Air Day at Seething back in September. It was a really great day but we could have done without the thunderstorm and monsoon down-pour just as Sally B was about to display. They held off for a few minutes then just went for it regardless of the rain
Absolutely superb selection of photographs there Shadow1. I didn't realise so much went on there, will definitely have to try and get there for next year Love the old cars too, had a few of them over the years. Cheers
