Tragic news and very sad to hear. Thoughts are with all those affected.

Just awful. Tragic that it should have hit the main road. Another blow to the vintage aircraft scene. From what I could see on the video there was a loss of power during the recovery from the manoeuvre.

Now I'm not local to the Shoreham area, but I thought it had just crashed into trees. A spectator told me that there were traffic lights under the flames and there was bound to be an increased death toll.

Sadly when a story like this breaks the media rush to report it but with little to go on, usually a few comments on social media. As the story develops they are reliant on what the emergency services release to them. In this case it seems even the emergency services are unsure as to how many victims are at the crash scene. For example, there are reports of a wedding limo being at the scene but the authorities uncertain as to how many were in it. Several media websites reported it was a WW2 plane that crashed. One even said it was a WW2 plane from 1951 (that reporter's history teacher must be sighing heavily). In our desire for 24 hour wall to wall news coverage we will often get ill-informed, poorly reported & edited speculation/news. Maybe as the earlier posts indicated the best reaction is to pause and pray for those caught up in or impacted by the tragedy. As an historian I would simply say things are not always what they first appear to be, give it time, let the dust settle, don't rush to judgements but then the news entertainment industry can't afford the luxury of time and informed consideration.

Yes a sad day for those whove lost someone or had someone injured.

I too saw the presenter (Nicholas Owen) ask about whether aircraft of this age should be displayed, I nearly kicked the TV screen in.
