Duxfords example last week

The picture of the 3 taxying out at Marham is from November 93, I remember it as one of the three did a couple of approaches at Cranwell, Im guessing it was on its way to Brunty.

Back in my Marham days the Victors did TANSOR, this was the air defence tanker and it was normally at 3 hours readiness, when it went to 60 minutes the tower and various other sections were manned up. Now it was originally called DRAGONFLY, anyone know when the name changed?

Don't know when it changed but could it have been the possibility of callsign confusion with 'Red Dragon' being assigned to the P of W?

Is TANSOR an acronym? It is a village just outside Oundle on the banks of f the Nene

I believe that TANSOR was supposed to stand for Tanker State of Readiness, but I think that may be a reverse acronym. As for Red Dragon, well that was in 1970, DRAGONFLY was still in use until 77. And yes it is a village and there was also a racehorse of that name.

And anyone know the reason why the Victor went from 2 navs to 1???

The Victor at Marham is up for sale, yes surprise surprise its been difficult to maintain. Johnny Vegas has put a bid in, good luck with moving it!
