NFE = Night Flying Equipment. Basically, this was a navigation and instrument lighting installation, powered by a battery mounted in the front cockpit with the controls in the captain's cockpit (rear). NFE was available from the outset of the design, but Tiger Moth II modification Nos 66 and 67 in May and June 1940 made provision for its partial or complete removal. However, Tiger Moth II modification No 105 was approved in November 1941 to reintroduce NFE. In the context of an aircraft storage unit it would be important to know the configuration of a particular aircraft because it would be foolish to send a non-NFE Tiger to a training unit where night flying was a training requirement.
EIC is not a straightforward abbreviation, and I wonder if it was connected with the external camouflage scheme. Tiger Moth II modification No 62 introduced a 'new' camouflage scheme in April 1940, and this was updated by modification No 70 in June. A revised camouflage scheme and Service markings were introduced by modification No 77 in Novemeber 1940 and camouflage 'Scheme B' was deleted by modification No 93 in February 1941. It might have been important to know what external camouglage was applied to a particular aircraft because it might affect its suitability for different roles.

Anybody seen them yet? It sounds too good to be true, at least as far as the condition of the airframes. Not sure about the crates though, ideal condition for rotting I would have thought.
