The last airworthy Vulcan B1, which had been used for engine trials at Filton, was delivered to Farnborough for disposal.
B2s were occasional visitors; they didn't use their brake 'chutes when they landed as they were only dropping off items of research data (no I don't know what) so they would taxy round and sit cooling their brakes with their special fans until ready to depart, usually it took about 20 minutes.
My last Farnborough Airshow was 2008 and featured '558. When it first arrived, it was parked on one of the northside ramps usually reserved for bizjets. Now I always thought of the Vulcan as being BIG, but parked berween Gulfstream 4s and 5s, it looked about the same size.
Come the first day it displayed, after it landed it taxyed back through the bizjet parking area and the taxiway across the apron was literally lined with people who had come out of the offices and hangars to watch it, all waving and cheering, the only time I ever saw that happen.

Ive just remembered seeing a Vulcan on approach to Warton over 40 years ago. What made this memorable was the fact that it had something slung underneath, I dont know whether it was an RB199 or the Mauser gun.

Frog did the V-bmbers in 1/96 scale in the late'50s or early '60s - I had the Vulcan B1 and Victor B1 from about 1965.

I had a Victor B1 model in the very early sixties,it had a control pedestal which controlled the models attitude via some thin spring wire...I think it may have been a Monogram kit,it was rather expensive....

I also had the balsa and tissue Keil Kraft Vulcan with a Jetex motor; never did get it to fly on the motor but it glided well!
