Queen Duck

I came across a reference to a Queen Duck. This was in connection with radio controlled lighting of targets at sea. It looked like it was referring to radio controlled lighting on buoys but it wasn't clear, assuming the reader was familiar with the term.I assume the "Queen" bit refers to the radio control element.

Can anyone confirm what Queen Duck actually refers to?

Thanks for that. I did a Google search and got plastic ducks with crowns on!

I suspect the reference I found was to the radio control gear used in the Queen Duck rather than the vessel itself which looks to be a large motor vessel. Seems a bit OTT though!

Shame the Google extracts didn't go a bit further as I would be interested to know what was written about the Queen Gull and whether it covered the RAF use.

It has confused me as the targets that required lighting were the raft targets off shore at Jurby ranges.

"Queen Duck" was registered as a Trade Mark of the British Power Boat Company in the US on 8 January 1943 (Ser. No. 457804).

A similar post has been made on the Queen Gull thread. A previous registration of the mark was dated 23 May 1940, I wonder if this was the UK version?

Slight correction the Trade Mark was applied for on 8 January but wasn't Registered until 13 July 1943.
I was registered in the UK on 3 October 1941 (No. 616,429) and reported to have been used on products since 23 May 1940.
