I noticed the concrete pads whilst browsing the area at 51.780067, 0.212195. When I checked the 1944 aerial photographs they looked quite white. I first thought of searchlights but if they were why there? Of course they may not be military but they did remind me of the concrete circular pads on Ashton Bombing range which are visible on the Fold3 aerial of Ashton.

I have spent a while looking at these, I do not think they are agricultural, they are to ordered spaced. The frustrating thing is there is a public foot path right through the site and apart from a guided walk (Essex Walks) Geograph has no coverage. There appear to be some buildings in the tree belt on the northern part of the site, do these show on the 1944 Aerials? Were the pads at Ashton concrete? There is certainly no trace today.

I noticed these some years ago when using GE and spent some time trying to find an on-line confirmation of their age and function but drew a blank assuming they must be agricultural for beet storage or whatever. Its the connecting road structure which indicates otherwise. Seems to be concrete.

Below is the Matching pads from 1944
The next lot are those on Ashton bombing range. The square is the target but I have no idea what the circles are which is why I thought they might be for a similar use.

I found it - eventually! The link you gave shows the correct post number (the one you only see when you hover over it) but takes you 10 pages into the thread history. Curious.
Just tried it again via notepad and my version differs slightly from yours but don't know why or how.

It's post #8 for me but I prefer latest at the top. There lies the problem. It must use some sort of post ordering despite both of us using the same post number. I am now officially befuddled! Why does it seem to ignore the fixed post number?
Edit:
I have just copied and pasted again and it is now missing out "limitstart=0" and "start=120" and now seems to work as expected using right hand click on the post number and copy link address (Chrome).
A little more testing to confirm this is consistently working or else remove the necessary text when copying post addresses.
