It's not an aircraft item at all Ian. As marked, it is an artillery gunsight typically used in ship installations of medium calibre guns. Although Canadian (patent) it was used by US military too.

EDIT: It may, possibly, have been used Ground to Air for a tracking purpose associated with the (then) Llanbedr activities.

these seem to crop up on various auction sites from time to time. The sight should also have its own wood transport case.

You may well be right it may possibly come out from the Azimuth trailer located at the end of the runway for the launch of the Jindivik, or may of been used earlier on the Firefly's,
