Royal Marines on an RAF Parade Ground!!!

Can anyone help me please? I have this photograph of A Royal Marine Band, a large contingent of RM's wearing pith helmets and a further "Guard" of RM's to the left of the picture all on parade at an RAF Station. My problem is which RAF Station is it? Then I may be able to work out what the occassion was.

Not sure where but the thing that should give it away is the pitched roof building on the site of the institute building

Since my first post I have found a reference to the fact that a Royal Marine Band was in attendance at Brize Norton for the Kings Birthday Parade in 1947.

I know that Paul Francis has said that the picture was taken at Little Rissington but I have been unable to confirm one way or another that is absolutely correct.

Could it be Brize Norton?

Hopefully I will have the details of the aforementioned parade in 1947 by tomorrow.

I have found the attached air photograph of Brize Norton taken in 1946. I have circled in red a group of buildings which could be the right configuration of the ones in the first photograph. Does anyone know what those buildings were?

Looking at the 1946 and 1957 aerial photos of Brize what may be the Theatre does seem to be hard up against the end wall of the Dining Room, rather than slightly seperate as at Little Rissy.
The 1946 photo shows what may be the flagstaff base, so the original photo may have been taken from the SHQ roof.

Paul many thanks for those brilliant photographs. I can only agree with you that although the main building is identical to my building the surrounds differ greatly. The main difference being the gap between the cinema and the end elevation of the Dining Hall.

I am pinning my hopes on what is printed in a 1947 edition of the Globe and Laurel, which is the official journal of the Royal Marines and published six times a year. Hopefully it will give me some more information that will help with putting that narrative together with the photograph.

It could be Brize, I will check out the building in question when I am there next and see if there is any trace of the annexe bit.

All gone I'm afraid Rich, underneath a 60s-70s extension at that end.
