Hi, can anyone tell me what these are? Are they runway / taxiway / airport lights? Maybe from an aircraft or carrier!
They have no makers name or numbers, they come in three colours, red, blue and amber. They are 51cm long including the pole, they have glass lenses, made of several metals, have a rubber tube on the back, two wiring loop connections on each, have a 12v bulb, light fitting part and rubber tube and lenses all measure together 12 x 7 x 8.5cm and all the metalwork is painted a military grey colour.

hi mick, these are the inner lamp units from drem airfield light units ,they had a round cast iron cover with slots for light emission etc ,you can see the mounting holes in your picture .clearly these units have been modified , the coloured shrouds were to denote runway or perimter track .

Actually they are significantly different from the pygmy well glass fittings described in AP3236, and from all those that I've seen (and possess). The usual Mk.II fitting was shallow and had a side entry screwed brass gland for the cable. Those above are deeper and appear to have bottom entry.
I'm interested in the glass 'lenses' on the above; are they coloured? The standard fittings are clear with a thin internal glass filter.
There should be three mounting holes.
