Mystery Control Tower!

Hi,

Looking to get the location of this control tower confirmed. It has a 20th Fighter Group P-51C with a damaged prop parked alongside but definately isn't King's Cliffe.

Current front runner is Leiston.

Looking at the notes I have, my best suggestions would be either Bodney or Leiston, I am favouring Leiston now after iniially saying Bodney.

I think it's Bodney, with the other Control tower in the background.

Not Bodney, as the mystery tower doesn't have "windowsills" downstairs like Bodney did/does.
The various antennae on the roof don't seem to match those on period photos of Leiston's tower.

Mike is correct in that the "other tower" is a camouflage-painted canvas tilt on a truck.

What 'other control tower in the background'? And how can you tell the Mustang is damaged? My eyes must be going...

Check out the bottom left blade, it appears to be facing in the wrong direction when compared to the others

I blew the pic up to 500% and it's pretty fuzzy but the object in question is certainly a truck and almost certainly the famous 'Deuce-and-a-Half' the 2 1/2ton GMC 6x6.

Looks more like a Morris Commercial or a Canadian Chevrolet to me..or a Bedford QL. The front wheel is almost directly under the door, not the case with the GMC. I think it is a radio or workshop truck.

Now I totally agree! It is not a Deuce, isn't even a 6x6 and doesn't have a long hood/bonnet! Wow! it just goes to show that sometimes we just see what we want to see. Good job I wasn't a photo interpretation at Medmenham in WW2 , I might have reported every Nazi telephone pole at Peenamunde as a V2 rocket
