Bottom right of the picture... would that possibly be a ship target in the Tentsmuir bombing range? Its certainly ship shaped!

It certainly is a ship target. It is in the original air to ground range area. I haven't seen it marked on and plans so don't know the date it was put in. There is also a circle dive bombing & R/P photographic target there as well.

Not far to the North lie the remains of a Leuchars GRVI, KG857.

Yes Leuchars was a Liberator base in 44-45, in fact its last loss to enemy action was a Liberator on something like May 7th 1945.

That's what I was looking for but zoomed in to get oriented and saw the 'plane then got diverted.

BOAC civilian Liberator from the "ball bearing" run to/from Stockholm, think Leuchars was their UK base?
