I took these today just outside Butlers Cross, Bucks. Been past quite a few times, think that I've seen it on Derelict Places? Anyway as it is now for Sale, and will at some time look different thought that I would show it on here. Absolutely no-idea as to it's original purpose.
Thats Dropshort Farm, it's been a planning contention in the Chilterns for 50 years!
As I understood it (I work with many organisations on the Chiltern Hills Conservation front) the barn was built in the 50's to replace the old dilapidated 'Dropshort Farm Barns' which the council demolished to widen the road for access to Chequers but he was only meant to build an open sided structure which the farmer quickly bricked in and then used as an agricultural dealers compound against the planning consent. Just to add insult to injury he then installed that massive great fuel tank and was selling fuel from the highway too.... The council got it all shut down and for god knows how long there has been rumours of various business moving in (a vets, haulage company, engineering company etc etc ) but there is no way they can get planning permission so the site has slowly returned to nature.
.....always used as a farm building, straw store, equipment such as his combine etc throughout the 70's. Used to play around there as a child. We knew the field as "The Giants Bed"
Memories........... I've forgotten what they are !!
