FIDO burners on the left, fighter pens along a dispersal loop, low-lying, I'd say it's Bradwell Bay.

Nice photo. :)

I had a look at the picture above and have to agree with Mr Bellamy that it is Bradwell Bay and have marked on the Photo above where I think it was taken.

Looks like defended walls on those fighter pens interesting.

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

Plus what appears to be a LAA pit between the two dispersal huts and the peritrack.

I immediately thought Bradwell too. Are those Typhoons?

Interesting, in the aerial of the airfield posted by the respondent above, one of the runways has vanished. Presume camouflaged?

Thanks for your replies guys, I'll paste a copy into the Bradwell thread. I forgot to mention, I found the image here:

www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=For...&finish=15&start=570

There are 48 pages to go at, a lot of "hero" pictures, and most airfields are continental US, but worth losing a few hours over, I think.

Thanks for that link Ossie, you can't beat the old monochrome film for detailed photographs. That's my evening sewed up! I just hope that in 48 pages there is a new Curtiss SC-1 image that I haven't seen.

The original Seahawk huh? A bit esoteric that.

No, the late WW2 Seahawk. I found one 'new' image on Page 35.
