Well. what ever it was, wasn't there in 1942! It seems to be postwar? The previous poster who suggested post war /non military gets the coconut?

Normally there will be at least a pair of gun with Battery Command Post. Also at least a couple of searchlight which are usually low down near sea level. Alomng with engine houses and magazines.
There is also usually a Quick Fire Battery which has smaller guns which can be tracked much quicker than the larger ones in order to fire on E-Boats or any other fast moving vessel that is close to the battery.
It's quite an old golf course, 1909.

wow what a fantastic shot of the Rest Home, never seen it before, congrats to the post war suggestion, quite right, but as to the line of nissen huts and other activity...fascinating, thats why i love this forum

cheers for the link i remember seeing it on the news, my mum has a caravan just donw the road in Fontagary...also a mod installation of some sort
