Assuming I'm looking at the right thing, it looks like a small GA aircraft to me, but then compared to the size of the trees and tennis courts, it'd be an airliner. On that basis I'd say, it's an illusion.

I remember a similar question about a shape visible in a Scottish loch.
You can see the same shape on Google Earth but looks less like an aircraft to me.
Reservoirs are drained occasionally and of course there have been droughts in recent years where levels have dropped so an object would be visible.
Of course an artillery gun was found a Scottish loch one dry Summer but it had been dumped there by the TA because they had one too many!

using the tennis courts and cricket pitch as a scale it has a span of approximately 300 feet!

My immediate impression was a float plane but given the scale I think that it is safe to say it is an illusion. We had the same problem looking for 200 yard moving target ranges; your brain wants a familiar shape to be real!
