Recognise these airfields?

Recognise these airfields? was created by alanlw
These photos were taken late 1916 or early 1917. The photographer was posted to the No. 1 School of Military Aeronautics, the Central Flying School, took his Aviator's Certificate at Hendon and spend a few weeks at Croydon, so they are most likely one of those.

All suggestions gratefully received.

The CFS was at Upavon (on the northern edge of Salisbury Plain ,Wilts) in WW1 and the first photo looks a bit bleak - just like Salisbury Plain...but that is just a guess.

Thanks for that suggestion. It's certainly a possibility. I have this aerial photo too, which I thought might have been taken in Africa but could it be Salisbury Plain insteadl?
