Hope you dont mind me putting a thread on here.....in asking you to check page 32 of the thread on 'West Malling airfield in Kent'.
Last week whilst checking the area around a former dispersal in woodland I found a few pieces of thin rusty metal panels. There are obviously the odd bit of modern rubbish in this area but these were found just in the undergrowth and id like your opinions on the pic I took.
You will see on it there are two 'strikes' which look exactly like what a round would cause when hitting metal. I didnt measure the two holes but there are more 20mm size than smaller.
From the WW2 and post war aerial shots I have this area just contained dispersal buildings and blister hangars etc. Do you think this is just a piece of rubbish or possibly damage to a piece of plane/building caused from enemy action ( I have no idea if either or nothing)
I found a few pieces of thin rusty metal panels. A piece of plane/building.
Lee
Lee, I very much doubt that the parts are aircraft. But I am not discounting that they may be building/structure related. Really need an image if you can.
Looking at those images, the strike marks look to have been caused by something 'squared off' similar to a pickaxe, rather than round like a projectile.
But thats just my opinion mate!
