Was this an airstrip or just a very neatly cut crop it's not there in street view.

Yes, an airstrip. Housed a Cessna (150 I think) in a temporary 'poly tunnel' type hangar. Unfortunately, in gales a couple of years ago the hangar blew down/blew away causing the aircraft some damage. Since then I've not seen any activity there so it may or may not still be active.

It only appears from the 2005 images in google earth I presume the square cut area was the hangar location?
