Suspected barrage balloon site??

I am not sure how to go directly to goggle earth but if you look at the above link you will see a set of two circular dispersals with a roadway between and the site for a shed of some kind. Could this be a barrage balloon site??
If you look on Google earth & wind back to 1945 it is still shown.

Its close to RAF Keevil, Trowbridge, RAF Melksham.

Very odd. The old picture doesn't look like the modern remains, unless it was being built then. I didn't think balloon moorings looked like that though. I wonder if it was a searchlight stand?

Post #1: Interesting Richard, the new image looks very military, but the older version looks quite inocent.
You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

In the old one you can see the narrower path to the second pan- just.
I wonder if it was toned down for censorship or else it was post war and newish. Some of the "1945" photos appear to be 10 years later in some areas (Wyton for example).

While never managing to find an intact mooring site yet, I have photos of the remains of one at Windylaw Head, Rosyth. This were originally sited in what was an open, rising field in wartime, but the entire mooring was uprooted post-war when the nearby wood was planted and extended.
There are around 58 concrete blocks which are about five foot long with loops in the top, and about same deep originally. They must be a couple of feet wide. The centre one is circular and about 10' in diameter.
As you probably know, these were originally set in three concentric rings of c. 19 blocks each around the centre one, so we're talking a fair amount of land being used. There would also have been a hardstanding for the winch truck, and presumably some sort of road. Those circular features don't look big enough IMHO.

They are about the same size as a bomber dispersal if that helps, there looks to be a site by the first circle for a hut base/garage. But could this be a mobile hard stand for a lorry and balloon. I will sort out some photos I have of one site near Plymouth.
