Waddington springs to mind as it had both C and WW1 hangers until the early part of the war. The new camp was on the opposite side to the WW1 camp.

Would fit Peter, I note from the AiX audits that Waddington had a fort type tower

"Waddington 1959-1960/34"

According to NP, which is almost always correct. Not being well up on aircraft what types are they, particularly the ones in the last 3?

The ones with the fuselage attached to the top wing are Handley Page Heyfords. The other I was going to say was a Vickers Virginia but the tail is wrong. It'll come to me some time this evening :)

It's now 10 mins later and the second bomber could be an HP Hyderabad.

PNK might be right, but I can't find referrence to Handley Page Heyfords being based at Waddo.
Any possibility that it could be Bircham Newton or even Boscombe?
Being very pedantic, I think the second to last aircraft is a HP Hinaidi.

Cracking set of pics where ever they are taken, the Heyfords look fresh from delivery as the nose codes haven't been applied. Nice to see a C type during construction aswel.

Would be nice if we could read the serials off the aircraft, but too distorted. Might give a lead.

The starting point, I think, is to ID the Hangar types. The pictures where not all taken at the same airfield. Not my line but I see it as:

Picture 1 - General Service Aeroplane Repair Shed (164/17?)

Picture 2 - Type C in reinforced concrete(?) with pre-war Watch Office (1959/34)? - Aircraft look like Hawker Harts so Bicester?

Picture 3 - Type C Hangars under construction.

Picture 4 - RFC General Service Flight Shed (146/16 or 68/17)

Picture 5 - A Type C Hangar under construction - looks like the same location as Picture 3

Excellent photographs due to the large format cameras used pre-war with fine grained orthochromatic film. But ortho film tended to make light colours appear darker on the final B&W print whereas the later panchromatic films used with yellow filters made them lighter. That's why, I think, the markings - especially roundels - on some of the aircraft are indistinct.

In the first pic the serial of the hawker fury reads k3730 .
The a/c was built in 1933.
Hope that helps.

Edit after a bit more digging it seems this aircraft crashed 20/6/38 sutton bridge .Hit ground target during gunnery practice & broke up so pic taken obv before that date.Aircraft was with 2 fts which during the aircrafts time as it was built in 1933 was stationed at raf digby.
Will keep digging lol

After even more searching i think i can say the first pic is Raf Digby.
Pure reason for that is the aircraft ,The first world war hangars which if you look at the hanger nearest the front you can vaguely see the roof of the hangar behind it and the aeriel pic i have of digby shows seven which 3 of these had dbl hangars. These were replaced so i read during 1935-1936 so brings the date within a couple of years i guess.
a/c buit 1933 hangars replaced 1935-36 ..
Hope that helps.
