Old Desford Airfield building?..or not???

Stevie (me old mate), the building in question is an 'Arcon' House, designed by a group (Arcon) of architects at the end of WW2 as part of the Government's re-housing scheme This had begun c.1944 with a competition to design pre-fabricated housing (ie factory made) as a means of re-housing people made homeless by the blitz. There were huge housing estates built of Arcon houses, constructed c.1946 as there were of many other types of prefabs such as Uni-Seco and Aluminium houses built by the aircraft industry.

Some of these buildings also made their way to airfields, farms and industrial estates - and I bet that is what has happened to your building - though I notice that it has now been partly re-clad in brick. They were originally built entirely of asbestos.
