I'm guessing it's an SLG.
From "Deception in World War II" Charles Cruickshank, 1979. Caption to it states: A 'satellite' airfield:thirty-eight aircraft are effectively concealed in this picture> A and B mark the positions of camouflaged runways.

It looks like it could be Down Farm but I haven't got full coverage of it in wartime to be sure.

This airfield below was part of a set of aerial photos, which included bombing range target photos, on eBay before Christmas. I got distracted by Christmas and was too late!

Part of the delay is that I wanted to confirm the airfield which I thought might be middle east. I had discounted both Machrihanish and Yeovilton, which both looked similar to this layout but not the hangars and tech site. Any ideas?

Very similar to Luqa in Malta but I don't think so. It does look familiar. Have you enlarged it from a section because the quality is poor. Looks to be cotton soil prevalent in the Palestine and parts of Egypt.

It is an eBay image so not good quality. The chunk missing is from an upturned photo as part of the display set.

Plethora of runways indicates a RNAS; (they didn't like too much crosswind in the FAA!) so possibly Henstridge?

It's not Henstridge, which had a hollow runway intersection in the middle.

At the back of my mind is AQIR in Palestine WW2. I don't have an image to hand.

Could be Aqir ...this is it today...look at the rather distinctive centre-point of the runways.

Oooh, that looks promising. I'll see if I can find a photo from an earlier period to make 100% sure.

Just need a Tardis!
