One for the airfield defence specialists.
The photo shows what appears to be a gun mount that has the PillBox Study Group stumped.
The Pillbox (type 22) is located at RAF Waterbeach and three loopholes have this feature.
The original reporter described it as a "flask" as one of the items had a wooden stopper and estimated that bit could hold a couple of litres.
General consensus though is that is part of a gun mount but for what weapon?
Having trawled through the forum archive, the closest I could find was what appeared to be a locally made bracket at Biggin Hill, which was thought to be for a Vickers K, but this one is much heavier built?
Any ideas?
