I am a new member and apologize up front if I've posted in the wrong forum area.
I work as a volunteer researcher tracking DC-3's, C-47's, Dakotas and all the variants of the DC-3 air frame. One of the pictures I found has then General Dwight Eisenhower exiting an RAF Dakota at Hurn Air field. The date was June of 1944, he was believed to be there for a pre-DDay planning meeting.
We know the field, what we don't know is the serial number for the aircraft. We are guessing it would be in the squadron's records somewhere, we just need to find out which squadrons or units were assigned to Hurn.
One additional question. Does anyone know what document or report for an airfield would most likely list a flight?
